Summer Brights ~ Pink Nail Colours

Summer weather brings bright colours and what better shade for this time of year than pink. Above is just a few of my favourite bright nail pinks that I like to wear to add some sunshine to my life.

Bubblegum by Models Own - This is a bright ice neon that looks great and looks even better with a tan. The ice neon range is to be kept in the fridge to keep the colour fluoro as bright as can be. Two coats is plenty.

Oh Cabana Boy by Orly - This is one of my favourite bright pinks, and I regular wear this on my toes. It's a hot pink with a slight blue undertone. Orly nail colours are amazing and stay chip free for up to four days. I apply three coats.

Elephantastic Pink by OPI - This is one that I've had in my collection for a long time. I only need to apply two coats, as with most OPI bold colours that I have. Pink with a coral undertone.

Heat Index by China Glaze - This is quite sheer, so you need to either apply a white base coat or you need at least five to six coats of the colour (who has time for that?) But overall, a really bright pink.

Surfin' For Boys by China Glaze - A really nice pink coral colour. Two to three coats needed to have complete coverage.

Flip Flop Fantasy by China Glaze - Another bright neon colour which was my very first China Glaze purchase. This one gets so many comments when I wear it. Pink orange colour with a matte finish and again, great with a tan, but sadly I find this one chips after about two days, so I would only apply apply the night before if I was wanting to wear it for a special occasion, and needed it to last.

Any bright colours that you love other than pink?

Winter Rescue for Hands - OPI Avojuice

Winter in the UK; wet, damp, cold and muggy and it plays havoc with my skin especially. The first to suffer is my hands. Being a district nurse, I'm constantly washing them before and after procedures and then out again in the cold and onto the next call where I do it all over again. A good hand lotion is my savour.
I was bought Avojuice by OPI by my best friend for Christmas and it has really helped rescue my dry chapped hands. It's a body lotion too but I've been using it mostly on my hands.

This lotion is not what I normally consider a typical hand lotion due to it being quite a light consistency. When I first applied it I thought it wouldn't cover both hands so before rubbing in it I put some more on. Oops, bit messy. Lesson learnt, only apply two pumps.
The OPI Avojuice is a lovely lotion and doesn't leave hands greasy or sticky. This bottle is 200ml and will last me quite a while. You can also buy a 30ml size. I have put some in a travel bottle that I picked up from Boots and carry it around with me.
A quick search on Google has shown that prices range from £6-£12 for the 200ml size and from £1.50-£3.50 for the 30ml. There are a range of sellers on eBay selling the complete range with other scents like Coconut Melon Juicie, Mango and Grapefruit. The cheapest website which I have located is Demon Beauty here which also stocks OPI lacquer and Essie too!

What are your winter skin rescue products? Have you discovered something new like me, or do you go back to a tried and tested product?

Gwen Stefani for OPI

Well, the picture says it all really...Pop and fashion icon Gwen Stefani has designed her own nail colours for OPI.
I have been a fan of hers for quite a few years both with No Doubt and on her own so when I read that she was launching her own range for the new year I was most excited.

There are seven colours being released - Hey Baby, I Sing in Colour, 4 In The Morning, Love, Angel, Music, Baby, In True Stefani Fashion, Push and Shove and Over and Over-a-Gwen. There are several hundred pictures of colour swatches if you google images, but I'm not sure if they are real or not. Some bloggers have been able to get their lucky hands on the actual products and have posted reviews.
I really hope these colours are as good as the names suggest and that the pictures flying about are the real colours. If or when I can get my naked hands on them, I will be doing a review on my blog.
